Architecture was born from the creation of physical environment for people to live in and within; eventually grows to be part of human culture and the setting of humanity. Architecture represent a society and civilisation though its built forms that make up the fabric of a place.

Inclusivity is a must in a modern city design, thus it needs to cater for the needs of everyone. There are various challenges faced by emerging economies and growing cities with the conflicts between preserving culture and heritage, and building for density and sustainable growth; maintaining equity and ecology, and tangible economic return.

Through UIA2024KL forum, we are inviting scholars, researchers, academia, practitioners and policy makers to submit papers to be presented at UIA International Architecture Forum 2024 to invigorate and discuss the future direction for humanity and sustainable growth.

The forum theme is DIVERSECITY, an encapsulation of diverse and city. Taking Kuala Lumpur as an example of multicultural growing Asian city, it offers a unique illustration of a diversified communities and a maturing model for developing city. This is in panning a global collective dialogue of the forum delegates, to question, discourse and propose ideas on questions of what is the evolving architects’ role in today’s economy, environmental, social movement, thinking and awareness of architecture, design and urbanism.

We aim to celebrate and preserve the cultural and heritage identities of our cities, a bridge of the past and present. Focusing on sustainable urbanism, we envisioning denser and greener mega-cities in the near future through innovative architectural practices.
